Energia Becomes First Energy Provider to Receive Guaranteed Irish Accreditation

Energia, one of Ireland’s leading energy providers has been awarded the Guaranteed Irish symbol for its commitment to community, sustainability and investment in renewable infrastructure.

Since entering the residential market in 2014 Energia have supported local communities and initiatives up and down the country and have acted as a champion of the Irish language through its long term sponsorship of Seachtain na Gaeilge.

Energia is committed to supporting Irish rugby from grassroots to international level. The brand is proud title sponsor of the Energia AIL and Official Energy Partner of both Leinster Rugby and the IRFU. In addition, Energia Park plays host to a full spectrum of rugby activity, from schools cups and local club games to Ireland Women’s Internationals. Energia has also sponsored the League of Ireland First Division club Wexford Youths Women’s FC, since 2018, covering the cost of the annual membership for the players as well as providing additional resources and support for the team. This summer, Energia announced a new partnership with Sail Training Ireland to sponsor a sea voyage for twenty four young people aboard the Pelican of London tall ship. Sail Training Ireland is a national charity that works with young people to develop life skills through experiential learning on board tall ships.

Energia’s growing renewable energy portfolio consists of 15 onshore wind farm sites, which generate over 300MW of green electricity, and an additional 900MW through Power Purchase Agreements.  Energia parent company, Energia Group, will invest €3 billion in renewable energy infrastructure by 2030, as part of its Positive Energy investment programme. This will include onshore and offshore wind farms, solar farms, battery storage and green hydrogen production. The Group is committed to reducing the carbon intensity of their electricity generation by 50%, will generate three times as much renewable energy from onshore wind and solar farms, and has aligned their responsible business activities with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. In March of 2023, the Group launched its Greener Possibilities Fund which supports charities and organisations with projects that are aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goal 13 on Climate Action. In addition the Group contributes €660,000 annually through Community Benefit Funding designed to support local initiatives in the vicinity of its windfarms.
